Former One Direction star Zayn Malik was charged with harassment after he shoved his now ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s mother Yolanda Hadid during a heated argument in his Pennsylvania home on Sept. 29. The “Pillowtalk” singer plead no contest to the charges and was sentenced to a nearly a year of probation.
On Thursday (Oct. 28), the internet learned that Zayn and Gigi had broken up following a statement by him that he was choosing not to address a story that had been leaked to the press. The story then turned out to be about his altercation with Yolanda.
Court documents reveal that he was charged with four counts of harassment for pushing Yolanda into a closet which caused “mental anguish and physical pain.” He then went on to yell a lot of insults at Gigi’s mother. That included calling her obscene names such as “Dutch sl*t” and telling her to stay away from her daughter Khai.
One of those charges are also relating to Gigi. The court documents say that he told her to “strap on some f-ing balls and defend your partner against your f-ing mother in my house.” This was said over the phone since Gigi was not at their home during the incident.
Yolanda went to their home while her daughter was away for work. This seems to have incited the entire problem between her and Zayn. He is denying that the altercation with Yolanda ever got physical.
“I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private,” he told TMZ in a statement.
Both Gigi and Yolanda Hadid have remained silent as new details of the story emerged online.
