Latina queens forever! Shakira and Jennifer Lopez brought the house down during the Super Bowl LIV halftime show tonight in Miami. There was a lot of dancing, singing, a couple of surprise guests, and booty! Just like Pink described it on Twitter: it was JOY!
Shakira kicked things off with a few of her biggest hits such as ‘She Wolf’ and ‘Empire’ – the latter as she rocked out with a guitar before going into her hit ‘Whenever, Wherever.’ She did a little belly-dancing goodness to a snippet of ‘Ojos Asi’ before bringing out Bad Bunny for ‘I Like It’ and ‘Chantaje.’ She closed her mini-set with ‘Hips Don’t Lie.’
Then, Lopez emerged belting out classics such as ‘Jenny From The Block’ and ‘Get Right.’ She then paid homage to her movie Hustlers as she awed everyone in Miami with a pole-dancing sequence as she did ‘Waiting For Tonight’ (yes, the green lasers were very much present because she is an ICON). From here another Latino, J Balvin, hit the stage to do ‘Mi Gente’ with JLo before closing out her part of the set with ‘On The Floor.’
The ending was the best part. It started out with a special singing spot by Jennifer’s daughter Emme. In between all of this, there was a bit where the girl sang Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born In The USA’ as Lopez engulfed herself in a flag of Puerto Rico. They wrapped things up with a smash of ‘On The Floor’ and ‘Waka Waka.’
