There was an audible and visible sadness in the room at the Staples Center last night in Los Angeles during the 62nd Grammy Awards. Kobe Bryant’s sudden and tragic death definitely made the night of celebration a whole lot more difficult. But in the end, it was the performances that celebrated life that were the most amazing.
Usher, Sheila E., and FKA Twigs paid tribute to the legendary Prince. It was easily the best Prince tribute we’ve seen since the singer’s untimely death in 2016. They performed the singer’s classics such as ‘Little Red Corvette,’ ‘When Doves Cry,’ and ‘Kiss.’
FKA Twigs did not actually sing during the performance as many expected. Instead she contributed with a very majestic dance routine that included some pole dancing.
She did tweet about it though.
of course i wanted to sing at the grammys. i wasn’t asked this time but hopefully in the future. none the less what an honour. congratulations to all winners x
