Taylor Swift was set to perform as a surprise at the Grammy Awards this Sunday. Unfortunately, she has decided to cancel her appearance at the ceremony. It is rumored that the entire situation between the Recording Academy and their ousted CEO Deborah Dugan may have been part of the reason why.
According to Variety, she was likely to perform her song ‘The Man.’ That would have been an interesting addition to the ceremony given the gender-equality content of the song given the current circumstances surrounding the show.
Taylor is nominated for three awards this year. Her album Lover is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, the song ‘Lover’ for Song of the Year, and ‘You Need to Calm Down’ for Best Pop Solo Performance.
Last night, Swift premiered her new documentary Miss Americana at the Sundance Film Festival. The film will then go to limited theaters before hitting Netflix by the end of the month. In it, she reveals a great deal about her personal and professional transformations over the last couple of years.
