Shawn Mendes kicked off his long-awaited Wonder: The World Tour at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon on Monday night (June 27). The tour is in support of his fourth studio album Wonder which was released a year and a half ago on Dec. 4, 2020. It’s been a long time coming.
Mendes has done a few one-off performances here and there over the last year. He appeared at the Global Citizen Music Festival in New York City, South By Southwest in Austin, and Wango Tango in Los Angeles. These shows were mostly about the hits, but he gave fans a taste of his new album live by sprinkling a few songs here and there.
His new tour is also a little bit of everything. While still heavy with songs from Wonder, he does not shy away from hits such as ‘There’s Nothing Holding Me Back,’ ‘Mercy,’ and ‘In My Blood.’ His new single ‘When You’re Gone’ also made it in the setlist along with a cover of ‘Message In A Bottle’ by The Police.
