If you liked what you saw at last night’s Super Bowl halftime show featuring Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, then you are going to have a chance to see at least half of it in person. Shakira is hitting the road with a big world tour. The only catch is that it won’t happen until 2021, but you can register for her pre-sale verification now – which would be smart considering that following all the Super Bowl buzz demand is high!
The Colombian singer will release new music this year. Just last week, she dropped a new song called ‘Me Gusta’ with Anuel AA. Whether it will be just singles or a full album remains to be seen. But this is all part of her first album + tour cycle as part of Roc Nation – Jay Z’s label.
Details of where she will be touring should arrive any moment now, but expect a world tour. It wouldn’t be surprising if JLo follows suit too, and tours later this year or next year. Super Bowl always boosts ticket sales given the massive platform. The likes of Madonna, Beyonce, Coldplay, and Lady Gaga have enjoyed sold-out treks from this.
Shakira and JLO’s songs saw a huge climb on the charts last night. According to Billboard, all songs performed on the halftime show saw a 1,013% sales increase in the United States. That’s massive. Shakira’s ‘Whenever, Wherever’ – followed by her own ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ – saw the biggest sales with a 1,194% increase. This gave her the second spot in the iTunes Worldwide Chart, just second to Taylor Swift’s new song ‘Only The Young.’
It was definitely a big night for both ladies, but it’s clear Shakira benefited the most.
