Nicki Minaj sparked controversy on Monday when she tweeted that she was not attending the MET Gala because she did not want to get vaccinated.
They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one 🙏♥️

She cited wanting to do more research before getting vaccinated. However, there is not much research she can do as she is obviously not a scientist.
Minaj then went on to talk about one of her cousin’s friends in Trinidad allegedly having testicle swelling after getting the jab. That is not a side-effect of any vaccine in the United States.
My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied

The real research has proven time and time again that all three COVID-19 vaccines in the United States are perfectly safe. The CDC just confirmed this and refuted Minaj’s claims.
“Contrary to myths circulating on social media and to rapper Nicki Minaj’s tweet, medical experts and public health organizations say there is no evidence that COVID-19 vaccines cause male fertility problems.”
Minaj has over 22 million followers on Twitter. Her platform makes her a very influential figure thus making her comments about the vaccine very dangerous.
We are in desperate need of accomplishing herd immunity which won’t happen if 100 million Americans remain unvaccinated.
The virus will mutate if it has an opportunity to replicate and the way it replicates is finding susceptible hosts – like unvaccinated individuals. The longer we have a lot of unvaccinated people in the country, the higher the likelihood of new variants developing. This is worrisome considering a new, more potent variant could possibly emerge that is able to evade the immunity from vaccines. Therefore, unvaccinated individuals are putting the entire country in possible danger again.
Anti-vaccination fanatics (because that is what they are becoming at this point) and those making this a political issue are taking advantage of Minaj’s extremely irresponsible stance. They are taking it and running with it – which contributes to the evergrowing stupidity that vaccines are dangerous. Her comments have been featured on opinion news shows on both television and radio. Just in the last month 5 radio hosts that spread vaccine misinformation died from COVID-19.
COVID-19 is what is truly dangerous. The new Delta variant is more contagious and has a stronger effect on a body it infects. Even someone as healthy as Minaj could contract this new variant and end up in the hospital – perhaps dead – if she does not get vaccinated.
Minaj has been going back and forth with the likes of Joy Reid and Megan McMcain. Her worshipping fans have found the interactions comical while praising Minaj for her insulting put downs. There is nothing funny about a public health emergency.
She should retract her statements and get educated as soon as possible. Her tweets lately have been incredibly embarrassing and disappointing.
