Mariah Carey joined countless other New York stars for the Rise Up! New York benefit this past weekend to raise money for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The singer sent in a virtual performance of a mashup of her 1991 single ‘Make It Happen,’ and 2002’s single ‘Through The Rain.’
She was accompanied by some backing singers and a piano player as she delivered powerful notes. She starts her performance with words of encouragement: ‘New York, I know we are strong enough to get through this. We will rise again. We can beat this together.’
The event was hosted by Tina Fey, and had appearances by Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Chris Rock, Idina Menzel, Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Fallon, and many more. Other performers included Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, and Sting. They raised a whooping $115 million.
