Mandy Moore is putting her health first. The singer announced that she is canceling the remaining dates on her 2022 summer tour. She cites that the intense traveling as a pregnant woman has taken its toll.
She shared the news as a post on social media.
“When we booked these shows, I wasn’t pregnant,” she wrote. “Although I truly thought I could power through, the way we are traveling (long hours on the bus and not getting proper rest) has caught up, taken its toll, and made it feel too challenging to proceed.”
“I know that I have to put my family and my health first and the best place for me to be right now is at home,” she continued.
The response from fans was an outpour of support. Many expressed some disappointment, but at the same time shared messages of love towards the singer. After all, they have been wanting to see her perform for years.
The positive feedback from her fans amid her tour cancelation announcement prompted a second social media post in which she expressed her gratitude.
“It’s hard to slow down. It’s difficult to feel like you’re letting yourself or anyone else down,” she wrote. “It’s disappointing to admit you can’t do it all sometimes. But it’s also empowering to give yourself permission to be human and take a breath. We all need it. To prioritize rest over hustle.”
She also reflected on the short amount of time she spent on the road. This was her first tour in over a decade. Originally planned for the spring of 2020, the tour was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. And now, it’s scrapped because of her pregnancy.
“I’ve wanted to be on the road, touring and singing every night since the second I last toured in Fall of 2007,” she continued. “It wasn’t an easy decision but I know in my gut it was the right one.
The last 3 weeks were magical and I was fully present and appreciated them and am deeply grateful to all of you who took the time to come and see us play.”
All tickets to the shows will be refunded at the place of purchase.
