At long last, Louis Tomlinson has dropped his debut album. He was the last of the lads of One Direction to do such thing. I’ll have more thoughts on the album in a review I’ll post sometime later this weekend. But for starters, he appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show last night to perform the lead single ‘Walls’ – which also happens to be the name of the album.
With the string section in the back, there’s a familiarity in the sound that reminds me of Vanessa Carlton’s ‘A Thousand Miles.’ Probably not the kind of comparison you were expecting, but it just made me think of that! The song is pretty solid. His stage presence undeniably awkward, but that’s okay. Let’s give him a pass on that one.
At the end of the performance he nodded as the crowd cheered inside Studio 6B as if giving himself a pat on the back for a performance well done. It’s good to know he is proud of his work. Bravo.
Walls is out now.
