Jessica Simpson is at a point in her career where you almost forget her, but not quite. That’s the optimal time to put out a juicy book full of jaw-dropping revelations. So, that’s what homegirl did. She is currently doing the rounds promoting her book, Open Book, in which she talks about everything.
Last night, during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she casually told a story about how one time after her divorce from Nick Lachey in 2005 she was abruptly kissed by Justin Timberlake. It wasn’t super out-of-nowhere, but it kind of was. She did have him over at her house (emoji side eyes) and who knows how the conversation lead to that.
After divorce and he was out of a relationship, he was over at my house. And we shared a nostalgic kiss, but I thought, ‘Oh, this is interesting,’ she said. ‘And he took his phone out and started typing. And I was like, ‘Okay, I hope that’s not, like, another girl. Like, did I stick my tongue out too much or? But apparently him and Ryan Gosling had a bet on who would kiss me first when they were 12-years-old. And so, he texted Ryan and said he won the bet. And I was like, ‘Oh, okay. Um…So we don’t kiss again. That’s done.’
Wild! It’s kind of difficult to tell whether this bothered Jessica and she just felt good, or if she was amused by the entire situation. Regardless, she always felt way more attracted to Ryan as she said, ‘when I was 12, I was, like, ‘this guy is so cool and he’s from Canada. I don’t know where that is on the map, but I really think that that’s amazing.’ And there was something so cute about him.’
It really sounds to me like she just added that Ryan is cuter part just to be able to say that on television since she is actually bothered by the fact that Justin actually kissed her for the sake of the bet. Ryan seems way less ‘funny’ in that sense; I feel like in 2005 he would have been old enough to not have followed through with the bet.
Ok, I’m rambling and going too in-depth with this. I rarely report gossip-y stuff so let’s keep it moving.
But do watch her interview with Kimmel below! She also talks about how she went to acting classes with Chuck Norris for the Mickey Mouse Club and the one time she performed for President Bush at the White House.
