Hayley Williams officially starts her solo career with her debut single ‘Simmer.’ Straying away from the more pop-rock sound of the last couple Paramore albums, Williams is experimenting a little bit with her own project. This lead single shows a more alternative pop sound from our favorite red-haired goddess. (Well, Florence Welch too though!)
Accompanying the song is a video that resembles a suspenseful and exhausting horror film. Visually depicting the lyrical content of the song, it demonstrates the fight for Hayley to get through life’s many downfalls such as anxiety and depression. Ultimately, she finds her rage to be even a little more destructive than she would have hoped for.
With the release of this song, Williams has unveiled that her debut solo album will be called Petals For Armor. It’s set for release on May 8. And, she plans on taking this album on the road. If the album is anything like this single, it sounds like a perfect effort to take on a festival run.
‘Now that it’s time to put it all out there, I can finally exhale. I’m excited to let people in to experience a different side of myself that I’ve only very recently become familiar with,’ she said.
It’s great that she won’t leave us music-less during this Paramore break. We are excited for this new Hayley!
