Gwen Stefani randomly canceled four shows of her Just A Girl residency show in Las Vegas back in February of 2020 due to sickness. At the time, people were aware of the coronavirus but it had not hit as the wave it did in the United States until a month later.
During her first show back in Vegas on Friday (Oct. 22), Stefani revealed that she had contracted the virus back then which is why she cut those last four dates.
“I would literally take people up here and make out with you, but I got to make it through the next eight shows,” she said. “I was the first one to have COVID. I was in Vegas. Do you remember when I canceled those four shows? Just because I can’t touch you, I’m still breathing your air right now, so that’s the risk that I’m taking because I love you guys.”
Stefani is currently doing her first string of shows at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas for the first time since the pandemic. They run until Nov. 6.
