At some point during this appearance, Green Day’s Tre Cool said the words ‘we’ve spread our seed all over the world.’ I nearly swallowed my… well, no that sounds wrong. I nearly spit my… oh boy. The band, which also includes the Ariana Grande-hating Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, has been on a kind of cool-again wave lately. Their new album Father Of All… is actually pretty good, and they stopped by The Late Late Show to promote it a little bit more.
For the sit-down interview segment, the band explained the cover art for their album – including how the name of the album is the reason for the colorful unicorn on the front. They also talked about their upcoming Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy, which gave the interview a much-needed comical turn.
