Conan Gray was invited to perform the National Anthem at the 2022 MLB Home Run Derby on Monday night. The singer took the spotlight at Dodger Stadium to perform the ‘Star-Spangled Banner.’
Renditions of the anthem are always scrutinized to the fullest. A majority of people seemed to dislike the way Conan performed the song – some calling it ‘the worst performance of the national anthem ever.’ Huh?
While it wasn’t his most optimal, vocal-perfect performance ever, it wasn’t as terrible as the internet is making it out to be. There were a few moments when his control seemed off, but overall it was a perfectly fine performance of the anthem.
Gray recently released his sophomore album Superache and wrapped up a tour of Europe. He will head back on the road in the fall with a tour of North America and later Australia.
