Conan Gray continues to give fans more songs from his upcoming album Found Heaven (out April 5).
The latest offering is called ‘Lonely Dancers,’ which keeps up with the 80s synth pop sound he has embraced on previous singles ‘Never Ending Song’ and ‘Killing Me.’
The album’s co-producer Max Martin worked on the catchy track alongside fellow Swedish music masterminds ILYA and Oscar Holter.
“It is definitely a pop album, and it’s definitely uptempo,” Gray said about the album’s sound in a recent interview with Zach Sang. “And like very synth and very much me being as ridiculous as possible, and not limiting myself in the slightest.”
The fans’ reception to his shift in sound has been mixed. Some are praising this new form for Gray, while others are reluctant to this new direction sonically.
Out of the songs he has released so far, the guitar ballad ‘Winner’ is closest to the Conan everyone is familiar with. But even then, the song did not do as well as what singles from his last album Superache did.
As for the music video, Gray dances away his love woes – weaseling his way around couples at a bar.
