Alanis Morissette paid tribute to the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins during her concert at the O2 Arena in London this week. Hawkins was the drummer of Morissette’s touring band between 1995-1997 before joining the Foo Fighters.
Hawkins performed in Morissette’s band during the tour in support of her iconic album Jagged Little Pill. Appropriately, Morissette showed footage of Hawkins on the backdrop screen as she performed her hit single ‘Ironic’ from that album. When the song was over, a joyful photo of Hawkins showed on screen with the words In Memory of Taylor Hawkins.
Taylor Hawkins was found dead at a hotel in Bogota, Colombia after complaining of chest pains. While there was about 10 different substances in his system, an official cause of death was never revealed. He was only 50.
His family and the Foo Fighters have announced two tribute concerts happening in September in his honor. One will take place at Wembley Stadium in London and the other one at the Forum in Los Angeles. Morissette is scheduled to play the LA show.
