Or so says, Benny Andersson.
ABBA reunited in 2018 and recorded two new songs. They promised to release them that year, but nothing ever came from it. Since then, it’s been a lot of talk but no action. Fast-forward to 2020, and we are getting more talk. But this time, it sounds way more promising.
In a recent interview, Andersson was asked about the promised songs. This is what he had to say.
‘They’re coming. I would say so,’ he said. ‘They’re coming this year. I’m guessing after the summer. One shouldn’t promise anything but if I were to decide myself, it would be September. I can’t make that decision alone. But that’s what we’re aiming for.’
Mhmm…
Putting the possible release date as late as September of 2020 seems like a good way to make people forget about it by then. If the songs are ready, wouldn’t they be out already? Or perhaps, instead of just a handful of songs, we are getting a full length album? So many questions!
All that’s known is that it’s been over 30 years since we’ve heard any new stuff from ABBA. ‘Dancing Queen’ and ‘Take A Chance On Me’ are stupendous but we want more!
