About halfway through the 5 Seconds Of Summer show in Houston on Sunday (June 26) night, the set came to an abrupt halt when a member of the crew emerged to announce that the band was taking a short break. Soon after another announcement was made that the show was not going to continue.
Fans were wondering what happened and it turns out that Ashton Irwin had been rushed to the hospital. The drummer was suffering from extreme heat exhaustion as they performed three shows in Texas over the weekend under scorching hot temperatures.
“Upon experiencing physical symptoms, Ashton was taken to a local hospital for tests and medical review,” a statement by the band said. “As a result it was advised Ashton had experienced extreme heat exhaustion. Thankfully and most importantly, he is feeling ok and recovering very well.”
The band also announced that their show in Rogers, Arkansas on Tuesday, June 28 will now take place on July 26. They advise ticketholders for both the shows in Rogers and Houston to check their emails in the coming days for more information.
