R. Kelly might not be criminally charged for anything (hopefully, yet!), but his career is pretty much over. Today, Sony and the singer officially parted ways. That includes being dropped from the label RCA Records, which is part of Sony.

This was a move that was very likely to happen ever since the sexual assault and cult-like allegations against Kelly re-emerged in the last few weeks. The television docuseries Surviving R. Kelly on Lifetime has been a huge eye-opening reality that has R. Kelly suffocating.

The results of the show have been nothing but damaging for Kelly. In Atlanta, a new criminal investigation was launched into Kelly’s abuse of young women. Meanwhile, many of his collaborators – such as Lady Gaga, Chance The Rapper, and Celine Dion – have pulled their songs with Kelly from streaming services. Additionally, venues around the country refuse to book shows for him.

I think it is a matter of time before R. Kelly is either arrested or he simply goes away forever. Of course, he is going to continue to deny all of this and his ego will have him maintain some sort of need to be okay with a career. But, we’ll see what happens!
