Shawn Mendes Announces First Ever Stadium Tour Date

Once you are headlining stadiums, you’ve made it.

Shawn Mendes, the guy who is having trouble with coming to terms with his sexuality (#sorrynotsorry), is closing out his Shawn Mendes: The Tour next year with his first ever concert as a headliner in a stadium.

The tour, which is mostly composed of arena dates across Europe, Australia, and North America, will wrap up the latter’s leg with a stadium show at the Rogers Centre in Shawn’s hometown of Toronto on Sept. 6.

‘Playing the Rogers Center is truly a dream come true for me,” Mendes said. ‘Having grown up going to games, playing as an opener just a few years ago, and now being able to headline a show here, is just surreal. I’m so grateful for the fans that have supported me from the beginning and have made this possible.’

Like he mentioned, he did play there as an opener for Taylor Swift on her 1989 World Tour in that venue in 2015 – when he released his debut album Handwritten.

This is a huge accomplishment for Mendes and I’m so happy for him! I can definitely see a full-blown stadiums-only tour in the near future.
