Despite being seriously sick, the queen of soul Aretha Franklin is doing well while receiving hospice care at home.
‘She is alert, laughing, teasing, able to recognize people,’ Tim Franklin, her nephew, said. ‘I saw her a week ago Friday and we talked for about 45 minutes to an hour. She’s watching TV, so God forbid she sees all of this ‘Aretha’s dead,’ so I don’t want to dampen her spirits on that.’
It is great to know that she is still living if that makes sense. It’s so hard to know that her death is coming, but good to know that she is with good company and in good spirits.
She is so strong. Her cancer diagnosis happened in 2010. However, she fought through it and has been active in music since then. She wouldn’t give up and was performing full concerts as late as last year – when her health clearly was not up to par. Truly a legend.
