Joe Perry, lead guitarist for Aerosmith, revealed that the band will have a residency show in Las Vegas next spring to kick off their 50th anniversary celebration. And, he promises that it will be unlike anything they have ever done before.
‘What we want to do is something that I haven’t seen before – just downsizing our live show, just playing in a smaller place,’ Perry told SiriusXM’s Dennis Elsas. ‘We want to do something different. We’re in the middle of the production now. What we’re talking about is having an experience that you wouldn’t be able to see on a regular Aerosmith tour.’
The band is expected to make the formal announcement next week on Aug. 15 when they appear on NBC’s Today Show. They are also performing live as part of the morning show’s summer concert series.
Perry also confirmed the rumors of a big tour for their big anniversary next year. That is presumably happening after their Vegas residency. They have big plans for their 50th year as a band.
The only thing I am wondering right now is whether or not Perry was supposed to reveal that before their television appearance next week. Yikes!
